FestiVin, a wine and culinary happening

This year, Caraquet's FestiVin will be held from May 30th to June 6, 2009. With its eight days of intense activities and at the dawn of the "Congrès mondial acadien" this 13th edition of FestiVin promises to kick off your appetite for an exceptional summer season.

Offered to the general public and to wine experts, Festivin's programming is designed to please all. Again this year, many seminars are offered, namely: Introduction to wine tasting, California wines tasting, Introduction to Portos, Alsace wines tasting, Your cave à vin, and Wines from the "Domaine d'Ardhuy". These seminars are offered in different restaurants in the area and registration must be made in advance if you want to participate.

People looking for novelty are not forgotten. It will be possible to discover many wines that are not yet available on the shelves of the New-Brunswick Liquor Corporation stores. It will also offer an opportunity to discover the wines from the Domaine d'Ardhuy, that have been called the « future greats of Bourgogne » according to the « Revue du Vin de France » or « A New Address to Watch Out For » according to « Decanter Magazine ».

This year's FestiVin`s programming is offering a prestige wine tasting with Frederic Brouca, who is a "Domaine d'Ardha" wines specialist and Jean Pierre Challet, chef at the restaurant « The Fifth » in Toronto.
The great wine tasting contest is also coming back this year offering prizes valued at $2500. With a section for sommeliers and one for wine enthusiasts, this contest is offered to all who are interested in testing their knowledge of wines. It is mandatory to register in advance. As usual, FestiVin offers a variety of complementary activities. For those who are interested in picking and preserving wild mushrooms, an excursion with Jean Patenaude is offered. For beer lovers: a nice variety of imported and micro-breweries beers will be available. FestiVin also offers an opportunity to discover the terroir products and seafood. And finally, for "Blues" lovers, a « Downtown Blues Band » show is offered on Saturday June 6th that will close the 2009 edition of FestiVin in a more festive way.

Once again, FestVin opens the summer season in the Acadian peninsula by offering a unique opportunity to appreciate the flavours and charms of wines and seafood, while discovering the beauty and proverbial hospitality of the region and of its inhabitants.
